Winners will have the opportunity to perform with the Las Vegas Philharmonic during the LV Philharmonic Youth Concert Series in January, 2009.

COMPETITION RULES

  • Musicians through senior year of high school are invited to audition. LVP employees are not eligible.
  • Auditions are open to orchestral instruments only (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, string bass, harp)
  • Musicians must audition on one movement (only) of a standard concerto, which must be in the public domain. These are mostly works before the 20th century and should be easily available for purchase. It should be appropriate for a children’s program. All of these will be taken into consideration for the selection of the winner.
  • Piano accompaniment is mandatory, unless specific exceptions are made in advance.
  • Musicians must have letter of recommendation from orchestra/band teacher sent to the Las Vegas Philharmonic, 1412 S. Jones Blvd, 89146 or fax it to 893-7757.
  • Winners will be selected from those who audition. Each winner will be invited to perform a portion of their concerto movement during the Las Vegas Philharmonic's Youth Concert Series in Artemus Ham Hall at UNLV, January 7,8,9,13 & 14, 2009.
  • Cut off for audition times - Oct. 24, 2008 at 5:00pm.
